Best paper award à FOCS 2022
The "P vs NP" problem is often considered one of the most important questions in theoretical computer science. Three researchers, among whom Sébastien Tavenas, CNRS researcher at LAMA, recently made a significant contribution to this particularly intricate question. Their work was distinguished by the Best paper award at the prestigious Foundations of Computer Science conference, organised by the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE). Congratulations to them!

SIAG/APDE Best Paper Prize 2022
Didier Bresch, CNRS research director at LAMA, and Pierre-Emmanuel Jabin, professor at the mathematics department of Pennsylvania State University, receive the best paper award of the SIAM Activity Group on Partial Differential Equations (SIAG/APDE Best Paper Prize) for their paper "Global existence of weak solutions for compressible Navier-Stokes equations: Thermodynamically unstable pressure and anisotropic viscous stress tensor", published in Annals of Mathematics (2018).

They will receive their prize at the PD22 (SIAM Conference on Analysis of Partial Differential Equations) conference, where they will give a talk entitled Global Weak Solutions for Heat-Conducting Compressible Navier-Stokes equations with a Truncated Virial Pressure Law, on Thursday, March 17, 2022, at 8:00am (Eastern Time, i.e., 2:00pm in France).

The jury was composed of David Ambrose (Chair), Drexel University ; John Ball, Heriot-Watt University ; Patricia Bauman, Purdue University West Lafayette ; Maria-Carme Calderer, University of Minnesota ; and Tasso Kaper, Boston University.

Congratulations to them for their exceptional scientific contribution, which opens new research avenues in the field!
